Zachary Brooks Sylvester

Wanchese – Zachary Brooks Sylvester, aka “Big Zack”, found peace on Thursday, June 2, 2016.   He was  61. Zack was preceded in death by his wife, Pam Sylvester.

Zack was a master carpenter, an experienced sailor, and a talented artist. He will be remembered in many hearts as a man of integrity, who had a way of lifting others’ spirits whenever he was around.

Big Zack was a fixture at the Manteo waterfront docks living on his sailboat with his Wife Pam & dog Fonzie, who was always at his heels.  Zack made many lasting contributions to the community he lived in, including being the founder of the Children’s Fishing Tournament in Manteo.  He was the owner of Zack’s Cabinets in Kitty Hawk for several years, employing many good friends, and supplying many of the areas homes with finely-crafted cabinets and other woodwork. He will be greatly missed.

Surviving Zack Sylvester is his son Zachary Jr. and daughter In-law Alicia Valentine; his brother, Kent Sylvester and sister in-law Myra Sylvester; his three sisters Vicki Sylvester, Marion Mehailescu, and Toni Gillette; his  nieces and nephews Victor, Kelly, Kimberly, Todd, Johney, Evelyn, Michael, Angel, Randy, Mary Lou ,Gary, Mike, Bettina, Kelly, Tom, Greg, Sara, Britt, and Jennifer  as well as numerous extended family members and dear friends.

The memorial service will be held Saturday June 11, 2016 at 11 am at Saint Andrews By the Sea Episcopal Church in Nags Head.
