Funeral Pre-Planning
It's Easy
Meet with one of our funeral directors to put your plan in place. Typically, we can have all your arrangements finished in under an hour. Anyone can create a plan, at any stage in their life, and you always can make changes if you wish.
You Decide
Preplanning lets you create your own unique life celebration. Including your family in the planning process can help them feel connected to you both in life and in death, knowing that your arrangements reflect your desires. Your wishes can be as simple as a direct cremation to full traditional funeral.
Relieve Your Family’s Burden
Preplanning relieves your family of burden of several difficult decisions. A pre-planned funeral gives the family more time and energy to focus on healing and remembrance.
You Can Prepay and Save
Prepayment generally means that you save money by being protected from inflation and price changes. Once you prepay, the purchase price is inflation proof. Unless your family decides to add to what you have already decided on, you won’t pay any more, no matter what our prices may be at the time of death.
All prepayments are either deposited into an insurance policy or into a trust fund where it remains until needed. We cannot access any funds until the time of death. Prepaying also provides peace of mind for your family, who won’t have to figure out your funeral expenses when the time comes.
Prepaid Funeral Expenses are a Medicaid “Spend Down”
If you need to qualify for Medicaid coverage for long term care, burial and cremation plans can be set up as exempt assets so that they are not counted when applying for Medicaid coverage. This way, assets can be reserved for the family’s other future needs.
Frequently Asked Preplanning Questions
I already prepaid with another funeral home but want to use you. Can we transfer our plans?
You can switch! You are not obligated to use the funeral home that you prepaid with, and your family may get a refund (after the death) if our prices are better than the prices you paid under the original contract.
What If I Move?
We keep a record of your preplanned arrangements and any prepayments. Policies are easily transferable to any funeral home in the United States before death. Pre-paid fund are easily transferred to the funeral home in your new community after death. The North Carolina State Board of Funeral Service keeps records of all prepaid funeral accounts to ensure the safety of your funds.
