William Russell Midgett

January 17, 2020

Harbinger- William Russell Midgett set sail on his last voyage unexpectedly January 17, 2020 at his Harbinger, NC home.  William or as most knew him “Russell” was 58.  Though he was born in Elizabeth City, NC Russell spent most of his life in Currituck county.  He was the son of the late William Ambrose Midgett and Betty Jean Gallop Midgett. Russell joins his brother, Michael Midgett in Heaven since 2015.

In his youth, Russell loved baseball and was an excellent pitcher.  Later on in his life, he answered the call of the ocean and became a successful commercial fisherman.  Russell spent many years working aboard the “Dana Bill.”  Besides fishing, Russell was passionate about NASCAR and even drove race cars.  He also loved a good western movie.

Left to cherish their memories of William is his mother, Betty Midgett of Barco, NC; his sister, Tammy K. Midgett of Harbinger; his two uncles Ezekiel “Worth” Midgett and Reverend Walter Gallop both of Harbinger; his two aunts, Virginia “Ginger” Bowden and Gladys Annette Sawyer also of Harbinger, and several cousins, extended family members and friends.

The family will honor Russell’s directives for cremation and plans for a memorial service will be announced at a future time.

Please express condolences to the family via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.  Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
