Southern Shores- William Kott, 81, died after a brief illness February 11, 2009 in Chesapeake, Virginia. He was the son of the late Michael and Rose Elizabeth Kott and the brother of the late Rosemarie Kott. William was born November 19, 1927 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania (formerly Woodlawn).
William served his country honorably in the United States Army during WW II. After graduating from his beloved Pennsylvania State University, William went on to build a successful career in heavy equipment sales. Along the way he and his devoted wife of 58 years, Janet, raised three children. After retiring to Southern Shores in 1990, William served as a Southern Shores Volunteer Firefighter. He and Janet attended Emmanuel Lutheran Church.
Left to cherish the memory of William Kott is his wife Janet of the Southern Shores residence; one daughter, Barbara Kott Vogler and husband George of State College, Pennsylvannia; two sons Michael J. Kott of Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Russell T. Kott and wife Sandy of Sterling, Virginia; seven grandchildren, Daniel, Joseph, Alexander, Michael T., David, Samantha, and Sarah Kott, two great-grandchildren, numerous extended family members, and dear friends.
A funeral service will be held Monday February 16, 2009 at All Saints Episcopal Church at 11 O’clock in the morning. Emmanuel Lutheran Pastor Keith Dey will officiate. Interment, with military honors, will follow the service at Southern Shores Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial donations be forwarded to Emmanuel Lutheran Church c/o W.S. Pratt 100 Mill Point Rd. Kitty Hawk, NC 27949.
