Wanda M. Fergusson Petrey

Wanda M. Fergusson Petrey of Grandy, NC, passed away at her home on March 17, 2023. Wanda was born May 23, 1951 in Norfolk, VA to Waddy A. Fergusson and Virginia Lee Tillery. She graduated from Granby High School and attended Virginia Commonwealth University.

While attending college, Wanda had an opportunity to go to work for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the Norfolk field office. Wanda started her FBI career in 1970 and retired in 2007. During her career she traveled and enjoyed seeing the different parts of the country.

Wanda could light up a room with her beautiful smile. She had a real zest for life, a true love for her dogs and was a caring friend to everyone she met.

Wanda is survived by her husband of thirty-two years, H.M. “Butch” Petrey of Grandy; step daughters, Lori Ann Lamanna, husband Frank, of Phoenix, AZ and Amy Rebecca Johnson, husband Mike, of Norfolk, VA; sister, Veronica Lee Byrum, husband Robert, of Virginia Beach; and grandchildren, Andrew, Kade, Aubrey, Mason, and Brodie. Wanda was predeceased by her parents.

A celebration of her life will be at Royster Memorial Presbyterian Church on April 15, 2023 at 11:00 am. The church is located at 6901 Newport Ave, Norfolk, VA. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association in Norfolk, VA.
