Walter Frederick Warner

Grandy – Walter Frederick Warner, 81, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, November 10, 2015 with family by his side.  Born in Schenectady, NY, Walt served our country proudly in the US Air Force from 1952-1956.   After his discharge from the armed services, Walt became a member of the City of Schenectady Police Department, retiring as a detective after 22 years of service in 1984.

Walt was an avid golfer, and a Yankees, and Giants fan.  He was loved very much by his family and friends, as he was a caring and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.

Walt is survived by his wife of 63 years, Josephine Palmeri Warner; daughters, Brenda (David) Mantei and Marcey (Charles) Baum; son, Stephen (Linda) Warner, James Wierzbicki; 12 grandchildren, Rachel(Jeff) St.Onge, David (Kristy) Mantei, Jennifer Warner (Marc Giaquinto), Adam (Danielle) Mantei; Dominic Wierzbicki (Jenai Southard), James (CarolAnne) Wierzbicki, Laurie (Ryan) Mattison, Sara (Nathan) Gatta, Jeremy and Stephen Wierzbicki, Charles and Alexis Baum.  He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren and one sister, Catherine Landolfo.  Walt was predeceased by his parents Louise and Frederick Warner, his sisters, Joyce Bradshaw and Joan Warner, and recently by his loving daughter, Tracy Lynn Wierzbicki.

The local memorial service will be Saturday November 14, 2015 at Grandy Community Church at 1 pm led by Pastor Steven King who was of great service to our family and our “Rock” during our times of need.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Grandy Community Church in Walt’s memory.  A memorial service with full military honors will be held at Saratoga, NY National Cemetery Friday December 4, 2015 at 10 am.
