Vernon N. Tewers

Vernon N. Tewers, 77, died of natural causes in Hertford, NC Monday November 20, 2023. He was born July 8, 1946 in Port Clinton, Ohio. Vernon was predeceased by his wife, Linda Meek Tewers; his parents, Norman Tewers (WW II veteran and POW) and Rosalyn Wright Tewers; and his step-son, Jack Vermillion.

Vernon Tewers served his country bravely in the Army during the Vietnam War. Vernon was a long-time resident of Kill Devil Hills, NC. In more recent years, he was a valued team member with Food Lion corp. as a professional meat cutter.

Left to honor Vernon’s memory are two children; Richard Tewers (Jamie) and Rebecca Steel (Robert); three step-children, Patty Slowikowski (Chuck), Tate Vermillion (Tonya), and David Craig (Jess); one brother, Thomas Tewers (Janet Leigh); his step daughter-in-law, Kim Vermillion; and many grandchildren, great- grandchildren, extended family members and family friends.
