Valerie S. Norris

July 31, 2024

Valerie S. Norris nee Brooks of Kill Devil Hills, NC passed away suddenly on her birthday – July 31, 2024.  She is reunited with her daughter, Dusttany L. Rector, parents William and Joyce Brooks, and best friend Daneen Wicks.

Valerie’s love for her family and friends kept her roots in Ohio, but in 2004 she traded her “footies” for flip flops. She enjoyed making new memories with her family and friends at the beach and introducing them to her new extended family – Miss Dawn and Miss Karen just to name a few.

She loved visits from her grandchildren, great-nieces, and great-nephews – creating memories like the “Swim-in” an outdoor poolside theatre.

She was a devoted wife and loving mother – a loving “Grammy” to her seven grandchildren – a best friend to her siblings, and an awesome Aunt.

She leaves behind her husband of 43 years, Robert “JR” Norris; daughter, Brittany Lumley; stepdaughter, Elizabeth Baker; and stepson, Robbie Norris. She is also survived by her siblings, William Brooks (Tracy), Jeff Brooks (Jenny), Tina Goodridge (Lester), and Mary Brooks (Ernie); sister-in-laws, Barbara Clark (Dick) and Nancy Zell (Russ); grandchildren, XzavionTae, Juantaveon, Brittnyana, JaeLeyanna, Cai’Liyah, Nicole, and Shyann; great-granddaughter, Isabella, and many nieces, nephews, and her aunt Luanne and uncle Terry and family.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date. Please share an expression of comfort at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.  Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
