Thomas LeRoy Harp, Sr.
VIRGINIA BEACH, VA. – Thomas LeRoy Harp, Sr. of Southern Shores, NC, went home to be with our Lord Friday November 16, 2007. Tom was born September 6, 1937. He was a graduate of Princess Anne High School and a long time resident of Ocean View and Virginia Beach. Tom served as a deacon of Beachlawn Baptist Church and had recently joined Ocean View Baptist Church in Kill Devil Hills. Tom took pride in owning his business, Surfside Productions, and also enjoyed cooking, wood working, and gardening.
Tom is survived by his wife of 48 years, Mrs. Ann L. Harp; one daughter Susan Drumheller and husband, Eric of Kitty Hawk, NC.; three sons Thomas Harp, Jr., Joseph Harp, and wife Suzy, and David Harp and wife Miranda, all of Virginia Beach; seven grandchildren, Erica and J.T. Drumheller of Kitty Hawk NC., and Lauren, Kyle, Kellam, Andrew, and Madelyn Harp, all of Virginia Beach. Tom is also survived by his two sisters, Anne Auchenbach of Phillipsburg, NJ. and Dawn Filek, and husband Hank of Virginia Beach; and one brother R. Wayne Harp of Newport News, many nieces and nephews, and a host of dear friends.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held by family and friends Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Beachlawn Baptist Church, 520 Norfolk Ave in Virginia Beach. A visitation will begin at 10:15 AM followed by a memorial service at 11:00 AM. Officiating will be Reverend Richard Yates, Pastor of Beachlawn Baptist Church and Reverend Steve Seigrist, Pastor of Ocean View Baptist Church, Kill Devil Hills.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations in Tom’s memory be made to the Virginia Beach Volunteer Rescue Squad, 740 Virginia Beach Blvd, Virginia Beach, Virginia 23451.
