Teresa Marie Fisher
Teresa Marie Fisher, 76, passed away peacefully at Currituck Health and Rehab Center in Barco, North Carolina on October 9, 2025. She was born in Hampton, VA, the eldest daughter of Merle “Bud” Linwood Fisher and Florence “Flo” Lamont Fisher. Teri, or Aunt Teri as she was known, was a natural caregiver. She doted on her nieces and nephews, babysitting and taking them on outings such as movies, dinner and shopping. Girlfriends Weekend was always a hit, where all the cousins played dress up and acted silly, with Aunt Teri right in the middle of it all. Teri was also the caregiver to her parents in their final years.
She loved cooking and prepared many delicious meals, always inviting family and friends to join in the feast. She had a great sense of humor. Teri didn’t tell many jokes herself, but she sure laughed a lot at her siblings’ jokes, which in her brother Dan’s case, were usually pretty bad. She was always hilarious on game night in Corolla but also loved her private time with a book or crossword puzzle. She read every book ever written by Steven King, with her favorite being The Shining. After graduating from business school, Teri worked as an executive assistant for Ingersoll Rand in Washington, DC for many years. After relocating to Richmond, she worked for Hunton & Williams, and at AMF, where her mother Flo also worked. They rode to work together every day. She later worked at Salisbury Presbyterian Church. Following retirement, Teri moved to Hubert, NC to be closer to her sister, Pat. There, she enjoyed spending time with her great niece Ava and great nephew James, frequently attending their sports events and other fun activities.
Teri is lovingly remembered by six siblings, Daniel Jay Fisher (Liz), John Linwood Fisher (Judy), Patricia Ann Baysden (Walt), Mary Delores Harrison (Jim), Robert James Fisher (Betty) and Judith Merle Fisher; four nieces, six nephews, three great nieces and two great nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her Aunt Dee and her oldest niece, Sgt. Jessica Leigh Baysden.
A memorial service will be held later. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements. Expressions of sympathy may be shared with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com.
Condolences
Good karma that I somehow came across this obit in the Richmond paper this morning. Haven’t talked to Teri in years but we were close when I came up to Arlington after UR Law School and we lived in Fairlington Arlington in the 70’s, She was 3 days older and we celebrated our birthdays and many good times. She was so wonderful, wish I had a chance to say goodbye. Judge George Varoutsos
