Susan Ruth Dombrow Mason

November 1, 2016

Kill Devil Hills – Susan Ruth Dombrow Mason, 67, of Kill Devil Hills, passed away on November 1, 2016 in Chapel Hill.

Sue was born in Upland, California to Florence and Mervin “Tiger” Snider, and according to her Facebook page, she turned 40 this year.  She was a Renaissance woman who worked as a banker, accountant, bus driver, house painter, school attendance officer, artist, guidance office secretary, art and photography teacher, and least surprisingly, card-carrying certified clown.  Even with all of those occupations, her role as “mom,” “grandma,” “ya-ya,” and other familial positions were her pride and joy.  In that field, she was a role model, cook, driver, hero, teacher, counselor, motivational speaker, and world-class hugger.  She was involved in too many charitable and social organizations to list.  It was probably around 253.

Sue is survived by husband Robert Mason and her loving children and grandchildren.

Sue would want to extend her sincere thanks to Donna, her nurse navigator, for her incredible support and guidance.  Throughout her life, but especially at the end, she was embraced by the love and support of her many friends for which her family is eternally grateful.

A memorial service will be held at Colington United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 19, 2016 at two o’clock in the afternoon.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
