Stuart L. “Stu” Baldwin
Stuart L. “Stu” Baldwin, 83, son of the late R. Stuart Baldwin and Keith L. Baldwin, passed away peacefully on March 28, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Raised in Norfolk, Virginia, Stu graduated from Granby High School in 1964.
Stu was the devoted husband of Rebecca C. Baldwin for forty years and cherished the life they built together, blending a loving “his, hers, and ours” family. He is survived by his children: Larry Baldwin (Dana) and their children Bennett and Blake; Katie Catania (John) and their children Ava and Mia; and his youngest son, Preston Baldwin (Bethany).
From his first marriage, Stu was blessed with two additional children: daughter Laura and her sons Zach, Seth, and Tyler; and son Ray and his daughter Lexie.
Stu was preceded in death by his sister, Margeret. He is survived by his brothers, James Baldwin (Melody) and Caperton Baldwin (Jolene), and his sister, Mary Cary Graham (Rick), along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
Stu lived a life full of passion and camaraderie. He played rugby with the Norfolk City Blues in the late 1960s and early 1970s. In 1980, he co-founded the well-known surf fishing team, SCABS, which continues to compete today. A dedicated angler, Stu joined the Great Bridge Fishermen in 2000 and served as president from 2003 to 2005. After moving to North Carolina, he helped establish the Outer Banks Anglers Club in Kitty Hawk in 2008 and proudly served as its first president.
A celebration of Stu’s life will be held at the Kitty Hawk Pier, where he served as manager, living out his passion, on April 12, 2026, at 7:00 a.m. for a sunrise celebration of life. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation to St. Jude be considered.
Stu will be remembered for his love of family, his leadership, and the lasting friendships he built through his many passions. His legacy lives on in the stories shared, the traditions continued, and the many lives he touched along the way.

Dear Becky...we are so sorry for your loss & will cherish our memories of Stu forever. May the love of family, friends & God surround you & give you strength in the days ahead.
My very best to Becky and the whole family. What a great loss. My old buddy since high school days may he rest, pain-free, and at peace
Stu was a gentleman angler. I had the pleasure of fishing with him on a number of occasions. He was passionate about his avocation and worked diligently at it. He was loving and caring about his bride, Becky. She was always the first thought on his mind. Fair winds and following seas until we meet again in the great beyond.
My neighbor, friend and farmer. Stu provided tomatoes, peppers, squash, zucchini to neighbors every summer and roasted peanuts every Christmas. May you help Jesus in his garden now.
Dearest Becky, my heart goes out to you and family throughout this most difficult time. Sending much love, condolences, blessings and prayers to you and family.

My condolences to the entire extended Baldwin family on the loss of Stu, who I met and knew through his Outer Banks Anglers Club. He was a true gentle fisher man and a great ambassador for fishing and OBAC. It was always a pleasure to spend time with him whenever and wherever and talk with him about family, fishing or life. Rest in peace with a fish on.
Becky I remember the first time I saw Stuart, when we were sitting in your front yard. You told me right then that he was going to be IT. It has been our privilege to have watched your life of love. We pray you find strength and comfort in your wonderful memories. Love always from Larry and Diane French
