Sheila P. Comstock

Sheila Pauline Comstock, 71, unexpectedly passed away on June 10th, 2023 at her home in Nags Head, NC. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family. Sheila was born in Toledo, Ohio. She was raised in a large family with 6 brothers and sisters and would go on to have five children of her own and raise them with her husband, Robert “Bobby” Comstock, in Woodbridge, Virginia.
She was happiest when caring for others, always making sure every mouth was fed and head had a roof. She fostered three children in addition to her five, and she would become a grandmother to 13 and great grandmother to 4. She was a skilled event planner and manager, but she took pride in being a mother most.
She loved being surrounded by her family most of all. Sheila is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Comstock; her children, John David Deardorff Jr. (Fiona Deardorff), Ian Michael Comstock (Lisa Molina), Torey Lhe Ossman (Phil Watson), Robert “Keith” Comstock, Andrew Jones; her grandchildren, John Deardorff III (Alexandra McMahon), Cassandra Deardorff-Villare (Jason Villare) Mikaila Caggese (Sonny Caggese), Brandon Deardorff (Alesha Martinec), Collin Ossman, Taylor Comstock, Kyle Ossman, Brooke Comstock, Aden Comstock, Kaiden Comstock, James Boice, Luke Boice, Arabella McCalla; her great-grandchildren Bradley Deardorff, Sebastian Deardorff, Colton Deardorff, and Sienna Caggese, and her siblings Jean Overly, Janet Ludwig, Kathleen Cook (William Cook), Dewey “Butch” Kessler (Deb Kessler), Kerri Kessler Patricia & Kenneth Swecker as well as a long list of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Preceded in death by her sons Travis Kelly Deardorff, Marcus Thompson, and her brother Keith Kalvin Kessler.
Sheila will be missed but her legacy will live on through all of the lives she’s touched during her time on earth.
The celebration of life honoring Sheila’s lifelong legacy will be held at the Veterans of Foreign Wars POST 1503, located in Woodbridge, VA on June 30th, 2023 from 4-7 pm.

My aunt Sheila, she was like a second mother to me, always had me and my sister Kiley with her every summer. I was close with my aunt throughout the years. I always respected any advice and words of wisdom she had to share. She had a beautiful soul inside and out and I always seen her as a humanitarian type of person helping children in need of help as my own children. She was there for me when my son, Logan, went through childhood cancer and my oldest son in helping him write a book which can be found on the blurb website, she put it together for Kraven Miles who wrote it, Logan Miles, the Boy Who Survived cancer” by Kraven Miles.. my boys held her dear in their hearts and was planning to see her next month for a visit. I considered us a pretty tight knit family and we all are missing her very much. It’s definitely a hard pill to swallow. I just find comfort knowing she will be with Travis & uncle Keith and her mom and dad now ❤️❤️❤️❤️ always will be missed and never forgotten
My heart goes out to you and the family, Bobby. I’ll see you Friday.
I was about 7 or so when Aunt Sheila came into my life. She was walking up from the docks at my grandparents house on the river, and man was I jealous! For one, she had MY Uncle Bobby’s attention and, second, she looked like an Angel! But, it wasn’t long before she won me over and became my favorite Aunt! She didn’t judge people, she guided them, and she made me think. Boy, did she make me think! She was a caretaker…no, the best caretaker. She loved quietly, but deeply. You always knew you could go to her with anything. I will miss that smile and wry sense of humor. Love you Aunt Sheila, rest in peace, and keep Trav in line up there! Love, Dawn
Bobby and Family. I was so sorry to hear of Sheila's passing. She was always so kind and caring and will be missed by so many loved ones and friends. My deepest sympathy. Jan
Bob and family: Prayers for all of you. I know the hurt is acute and, hopefully, transitory. Soon to be replaced by memories of happy times and the love you shared.
I'm so sorry to hear of Sheila's untimely passing. She was a big part of my teenage years and took me in when I needed a place to be. I always enjoyed going back to visit long after. She gave me one of my first jobs and patiently taught me how to do better. I will always remember her as having a big heart who loved her kids and her kids' friends. Sheila and Bob's house was always full and always felt welcoming. She will certainly be missed.
Bobby and family, I just heard of Shelia's passing and I am so very sad. I am so grateful I got to spend some time recently catching up with her. She was one of the most special people I was blessed to know. Thinking and praying for you all. Much love.
I was saddened and shocked to hear of the passing of Sheila. We worked together for many years at Pilot House Restaurant. She was a wonderful person and loved by all. Really a family woman with so many talents. I am honored to have known her. My condolences to her family. RIP beautiful Sheila!
