Sheila Faye Nowicki

Kill Devil HIlls – Sheila Faye Nowicki died peacefully in her home on July 10, 2015 in Kill Devil Hills, NC after a short battle with cancer. She was 74.

Mrs. Nowicki was born on November 21, 1940 in Norfolk, VA to her parents, Lillie Mae Fields and Walter Avery Doughty.  She married Bruce Potter in 1957 and William Nowicki in 1980.

Mrs. Nowicki held a variety of jobs and also volunteered at Arnot Ogden Medical Center in Elmira, NY. She was a mother to all, and her infectious laughter, kindness, and compassion will be greatly missed.

Mrs. Nowicki is survived by her sister, Carolyn Hetzel of Manchester, TN; Ray King of Virginia Beach, VA;  daughter, Karen Peters of Rochester, NY; daughter and son-in-law, Lori and Jim Stappenbeck of Wendover, NV; son, Ty Nowicki of Brooklyn, NY; three grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William; and her sister, Linda Unger.

Mrs. Nowicki will be celebrated in a private ceremony on the Outer Banks, NC; and memorial service will take place in Elmira, NY on July 23 at 1:00 p.m. at Walter J. Kent Funeral Home.
