Shawn Thomas Cavanaugh

Kill Devil Hills-  Shawn Thomas Cavanaugh, 44, passed away at his home in the early hours of March 7, 2017. Shawn had a brief but courageous battle with cancer.

Shawn was born in Woodbridge, England September 15, 1972.  He was raised globally by many people who loved him dearly.

Recently, Shawn was a well known painter, roofer and general tradesman in the local community. When not hard at work, Shawn enjoyed his time with his beach family and friends and especially loved going on outings with his daughter, who was his sunshine.  He was blessed recently to reconnect with his son.

Surviving Shawn is his daughter, Breahna Cavanaugh of Kill Devil Hills; his son David Adams of Newport News, VA; his mother Cher Ketcham of Arizona; his brother Robert Rybicky (Donna) of Valdosta, GA; his sister Brandie Cavanaugh, also of Valdosta, GA; one grandson; three nephews; and many other extended family members and close friends.

A visitation for friends and family is planned for Friday March 10, 2017 at the Gallop Chapel (Nags Head) from 6 pm to 8 pm.  Shawn’s cremated remains will be dispersed to the sea at a private ceremony.
