Shawn Morton

Kitty Hawk – Shawn Morton died unexpectedly in Nags Head, NC December 21, 2017.  He was 52. Shawn was born and educated in Lynchburg, VA.  He went on to earn his Bachelor’s Degree from Lynchburg College and later his teaching credentials.  Shawn taught history and geography in Virginia and in the Dare County Schools. He loved teaching and was devoted to his students. Shawn also excelled as a food salesman and an advertising salesman with the Virginia Pilot.

Shawn excelled at everything he tried including pottery. His hand-thrown bowls won awards and were shown and sold at Glenn Eure’s Ghostfleet Art Gallery in Nags Head.

Left to remember Shawn is his mother, Alida Lyditch Morton of Kitty Hawk; his brother and sister, Drs. Dirk and Eugenie Morton of Norfolk; his father, Patrick Morton of Norfolk as well as numerous relatives in the Netherlands.

In accordance with Shawn’s wishes he will be cremated and the family has no plans for services. Those wishing to donate in Shawn’s memory may do so in care of the Dare County Animal Shelter.
