  2. Will never forget the good times when we were growing up. You surely will be missed. Glad we caught up at the beach this past summer. Fly high sweety . You will never be forgotten.

  3. Sam you will truely be missed by your Foodlion Family. You we loved by all of the employees and brought joy to us to speak with you

  4. My wife Shannon is a manager at the Grandy Food Lion and we saw Sam all the time shopping. He always wore his veteran ball cap and shared stories of being a Hilo pilot. As a veteran, I loved hearing him tell his experiences! We will miss you Sam!
Thoughts to his family and many friends!

  5. Sammie was a very dear friend of mine for 65 years. We knew each other in our childhood. His family’s cottage was in front of ours here at Kitty Hawk. I have a lot of memories of Sammie and always loved him. He loved Jesus very much and read his Bible and attended the Popular Branch Baptist Church. He was a good son who took care of his parents and his deceased wife, Alice before she passed away in August 2021. I will always remember him and some day will see him again in Heaven.

  6. I will miss my dear cousin and our long telephone conversations. I know you are blessed and happy in heaven. I love you

Sam was born in Hertford, North Carolina. In his youth, he was a gifted scholar and athlete.  Eventually Sam joined the United States Army which he proudly served for over 20 years.
