Rosemary Leasure White

Rodanthe – Rosemary Leasure White died peacefully in her sleep surrounded by loving family and friends on Friday night, January 3, 2014, after several months of illness. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie; son, Michael; sister, Betty Leasure Hiebel; and brother, Hal Leasure, all residents or natives of Zanesville, OH. She is survived by her two grandsons, Ryan White of Rodanthe, NC, and Brandon White of Sacramento, CA, along with a brother, Kenneth Leasure, of Zanesville, OH.

Rosemary was an avid reader and capable business woman with a sharp mind and wit. Her main passion was her family to which she was very devoted. Originally from Zanesville, OH, she purchased and helped clear a plot of land on Hatteras Island in Rodanthe, NC. With encouragement from her son and husband, she left her life-long home in Ohio to move permanently to Rodanthe in 1988, where she became “Granny” up and down the island and was met, known and greatly respected by many residents and visitors.

“Granny” will be much missed as an icon in the Hatteras communities. She will not be soon forgotten.
