Robert W. Sumner, Jr.

Robert W. Sumner, Jr. passed away unexpectedly of natural causes in Virginia Beach on September 5, 2024. Born in Trenton, NJ, he was the oldest son of the late Robert W. Sumner Sr. and Betty Jefferies Sumner. He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Debbie, and their daughter, Amy.
In addition to his wife and daughter, Bob is survived by his sister, Gail Kownacky (Tom), brother Jim Sumner (Carrie), and his honorary brother, Carl Nelson (Janice) – as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and life-long friends. Funeral services are private. Expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.

I grew up right down the street from Bob on Washington Avenue, West Trenton. I knew him since Kindergarten! He was a terrific friend and a man you could depend on. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. My condolences to Debbie, Amy, and the rest of the family.
Very sorry to hear about the passing of Bob. I worked with Bob for about 12 years at Roma Bank and visited him a few times for lunch while at the Outer Banks. He was a truly good person. May God comfort Debbie, Amy, and the family.
