Robert Lynwood Via
Robert Lynwood Via, 71, passed away on March 22, 2026. Born November 29, 1954, he was raised in Ettrick, Virginia, where he built his roots. He later spent over 30 years in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, where he called home. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cindy Via; his parents, Janice and James Via; and his sister, Becky Wailes.
After more than 20 years with Commonwealth Gas Company in Petersburg, Virginia, Robert moved to the Outer Banks, where he enjoyed a slower pace of life. He worked as a chauffeur, where he met so many great people and built lasting friendships.
Robert was a social, fun-loving, and positive man who never met a stranger. He had a deep love for music and could often be found enjoying live performances, something that brought him a great deal of happiness. He truly enjoyed being around people, sharing meals, and having good conversations where he developed many long-lasting bonds of friendship.
Robert was devoted to his family and especially to his wife, Cindy, who passed in 2022. She was the love of his life, and their bond was at the center of everything. Robert is survived by his son, Todd Burton (Jennifer Birchett); grandchildren, Justin, Hannah and Robert; his brothers, Michael Via (Carol) and Dewey Via (Tara); and his sister, Linda Jo Reed (Wesley).
