Robert (Bob) Francis Burns

Kitty Hawk- Robert (Bob) Francis Burns died in Nags Head, December 31, 2011. Bob was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey December 8, 1920. He and his wife Margaret Williams Burns moved to Southern Shores in 1982. Bob resided and volunteered in Southern Shores for 25 years. Margaret, his wife of 53 years, preceded him in death.

Bob served in Europe 1942-1946 as a communications officer in the Untied States Army. After being honorably discharged, he was a sales and marketing representative for communication, sonar, space and military equipment research and development companies in the D.C. area.

Surviving are his sister, Joan Bereswill; sons, Clifford Francis and Russell Thomas; grandsons, Michael Christopher, Stephen Robert and Ian Mclean Burns, all of Fairfax VA.

A memorial Mass will be held on Wednesday January 4, 2012 at Holy Redeemer by the Sea Catholic Parish in Kitty Hawk at 11:00 AM with a reception to follow at the church. The urn burial with military honors will be held at 3 PM at Southern Shores Cemetery following the service and reception.
