Raymond Steven Bateman

Kill Devil Hills – Raymond Steven Bateman, or “Stevie”  as he was known, died unexpectedly at his Colington home Sunday August 23, 2015.   He was 59. Stevie was predeceased by his mother, Viola “Olie” Wright and his sister, Cathy Wright. Stevie was born in Norfolk, VA June 26, 1956.

Stevie loved the water and was an experienced sailor.  Over the years he sailed the East Coast extensively.  Stevie was employed for many years as a carpenter.  He will be remembered most for his sense of humor and his love of carpentry and woodworking.

Besides her father Luther L. Bateman of Colington, Stevie is survived by his sister, Angela Faye Bateman of Wilson, NC as well as numerous extended family members and friends.

In accordance with Stevie’s wishes, he will be cremated and no services are planned.
