Preston Legree Holloway

KItty Hawk – Preston Legree Holloway, 78 of Kitty Hawk, NC on August 24, 2016 was reunited with his Heavenly Father and his family and friends gone before. He was born in Chase City, VA on May 25, 1938 to the late William and Parma Holloway. He was predeceased by his son Thomas James Payne Jr. his brothers, Thomas Holloway, Jesse (JC) Holloway and Marvin Holloway and his sisters Thelma Murphy, Etheleen Murphy, Anne Sawyer and Mildred Carlile.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Evelyn Mason Payne Holloway.  His two daughters Cynthia Payne Chambers and spouse Michael and Darlene Holloway Styron and spouse Michael Kevin.  He has 9 grandchildren Heather Edwards, Gregory Garnier, Tiffany Payne, Corey Kelk, Marrissa Styron, Christopher Chambers, Catherine Klus, Robert Chambers and Mike Chambers.  He has three Great Grandchildren Loren Duke, Tristan Edwards and Chayann Garnier and also two Great-Great Grandchildren Dalton Duke and Boe Duke. He is also survived by a sister Shirley Porter and a brother, Travis Holloway and wife Bonnie, and his sister-in-law, Gwen Holloway.

Preston was a longtime resident and business owner of Holloway’s Tree Service, Inc. (Doc Holloway) in Virginia Beach, VA for over 40 years. In his early life he worked for The City of Norfolk and Ford Motor Company. He enlisted in the US Army and was stationed in Germany during peace time. When he came home from the Army he met the love of his life and married on April 2, 1961. He started his business in 1961 after his marriage and continued to provide service to the Tidewater area for 40 years until his retirement in 2001.

He moved to Kitty Hawk, NC and enjoyed the good life loving his family, fishing, hunting and playing his guitar. Whether you were a stranger or family he could always sing a song just for you. He is now singing praises for the Lord.

There will be a viewing at Oman Funeral Home, Great Bridge Chapel, 653 Cedar Rd Chesapeake, VA on Sunday August 28th  from 4-6 pm. The funeral  service is at 1 pm on Monday August 29th at Oman’s followed by a procession to Princess Anne Memorial Park  on Great Neck Rd in Virginia Beach, VA for a graveside service. There will be a private reception following the service. Details can be obtained at the viewing or by calling one of the family members.
