Peggy Everton O’Neal MacQuin

Peggy Everton O’Neal MacQuin of Wanchese, NC passed away at her residence with her husband, Allen MacQuin by her side Monday April 14, 2025 at 11:58 pm.  Living most of her life in Wanchese, Peggy was born in Belhaven, NC. She was the daughter of Hudean R. O’Neal and Jennie Lee O’Neal, and the sister of Randolph Warren O’Neal- all deceased.

In addition to her husband, Allen MacQuin, Peggy is survived by her two sons, James Hudean Schillings (Amanda) and Dennis Warren Schillings.  Also surviving is her daughter, Mary L. Schillings, her only granddaughter, Ashley Scout Schillings, three sisters, Jennie Lynn O’Neal, Shannon Estelle O’Neal (Jeff), and Erin McCown (Buddy) as well as several cherished nephews and nieces.

Mrs. MacQuin was a familiar face at many locally owned businesses on Roanoke Island.  She knew and loved so many of us. Peggy was a true ray of sunshine- always spreading joy, sparkles, and love to all that knew her.  Peggy’s celebration of life will be held at Bethany United Methodist Church in Wanchese on Saturday April 26, 2025 from 1 pm to 3 pm. Light refreshments will be served and the family welcomes everyone.
