Patricia Anne McCleney
Manns Harbor- Patricia Anne McCleney , 67 died in Greenville April 30, 2017 after bravely battling a chronic illness. Pat was predeceased by her parents, Winifred and Roland Leicester and Homer McCleney, by her sisters, Holly Nixon, and Stephanie Keel and by her nieces, Gwen Hodges and Marianne Padrick. She was born in Lee County, North Carolina.
Pat was hard working and naturally curious and dabbled in many endeavors. She was most proud however, of working as professional journalist in the newspaper business. She was a loyal employee with the Coastland Times, in many capacities, for over 30 years.
Left to marvel at Pat’s full remarkable life is her loyal, life-time love and companion, Willie “Biddy” Wilton Willis of the Manns Harbor home; her two sisters, Terry Edwards (James), and Mary Padrick (Marshall); her brother, Bill McCleney, sisters-in-law, Darlene Anderson and Janice Willis and brother-in-law Gordon Willis; several nieces, Jessica Anderson, Bridget Sawyer, Billi Jo Sawyer, Miriam Padrick, Sallie Simmons, and Alicia Willis; her nephews, Jonathan Sawyer, Jason Edwards, Patrick Edwards, Eric Nixon, Marshall Padrick and Chris Lawrence; a host of extended family members, and her Coastland Times colleagues.
Patricia also leaves friends too numerous to count including her “Windsor, North Carolina family” ; John Bond Gillam, III, La Verna Gillam Perry, Constance Gillam Burke, Elizabeth Gillam “Sis” Hall, Penelope Gillam Sermons, Rascoe Bond Gillam, Nancy Gillam Spruill, Victoria Outlaw Gillam Leggett, Gail Gillam Crutchfield, Benjamin HerrmanGillam, Jr , Humphrey Hardy Gillam, Jr. Martha Gillam Price, Robert Turner Gillam, Jr. Holley Bell Alexander, Jane Bell Brandon, Margaret Bell “Peggy” Daly, Turner Bond Sutton, Jr., and Bond Munroe Bell.
In accordance with Pat’s wishes, her choice for cremation will be honored and Willie will hold a private memorial ceremony back home at a future date.
