Oscar K. Keller

Southern Shores – Oscar K. Keller, known as “Bud” to his friends, or “Pap” to his family, passed peacefully at his home in Southern Shores on Thursday, October 4th.  Born 1925 in Frederick, Maryland to Oscar S. and Edith May Keller, both deceased.  He served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II, his last ship being the aircraft carrier USS Princeton.  He received an Honorable Discharge in 1946 and returned to Hagerstown, Maryland where he met and married, Bettie Jane Guessford Keller in October 1946.  Bettie proceeded him in death in 2013, she and Oscar were married almost 67 years.

Oscar was employed by M.P. Moller Organ Company for 34 years and then went to work for Trivo Pipe Company for 20 years, both in Hagerstown.  He was a skilled craftsman making pipes for pipe organs around the country, including the Air Force Academy Chapel.

Oscar was a loving and caring, husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather to his family.  He coached little league baseball and attended the sporting events and school activities of his children. He was also an active member of the Hagerstown Elks Lodge, Morris Frock American Legion Post, as well as St. Mary’s Catholic Church.

He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Jean Kline, husband Thomas Kline (deceased March 2018), his son, Charles Edward Keller, wife Shirley of Hagerstown, MD, son Steven E. Keller, wife Tammy, of Southern Shores, NC.  Two grandchildren, Christopher (wife Larissa) of Waynesboro, PA and Emily Keller of Hagerstown.  Three great grandchildren, Mason and Marlee Keller, from Chris & Larissa Keller and Layla Wishard from Emily Keller.

Oscar will be cremated, and he and Bettie will be interred at Cedar Lawn Cemetery in Hagerstown, MD in the future.  No services are planned at this time.
