Morris Ruffen Jones

August 3, 2026

Morris Ruffen Jones was called Home into the arms of his Heavenly Father August 3, 2026.  He recently turned 80 years old.  Born and raised in Lenoir County, NC Morris was the son of the late Melvin Jones and the late Eliza Boyette Jones. He also joins in Heaven his two brothers, Horace and Lewis and his two sisters, Sally and Grace.

After completing high school, Morris secured employment in the construction industry. He eventually used the skills and abilities he gained on the job to become an expert tile mechanic. Morris perfected his craft and later started his own business.  After working for many years, Morris reluctantly retired from his trade to bravely face several medical challenges.  Making the best of his retirement, Morris devoted much of his time to church and the community, joining Poplar Branch Baptist Church, serving faithfully as a deacon, and singing in the church choir with his wife Nancy. Morris also became an avid vegetable gardener and enjoyed hunting and fishing- as he did in his youth.

A devoted husband, father, and servant of God, Morris Jones is survived by his wife of 59 years Nancy C. Jones of the Camden residence; their cherished son, Adam D. Jones and daughter-in-law Tracy Jo also of Camden; his granddaughter, Lexi Jo Jones (Colton Outlaw) of Beulaville, NC, his grandson, Dylan Dwayne Jones (Madison Wright) of Camden; and a host of other relatives, extended family members and in-laws, close friends, his church family, and former co-workers and customers.

The memorial service will be held Saturday August 8, 2026 at 1pm at Poplar Branch Baptist Church in Grandy, NC.  Reverend David Wallace will officiate. Interment of the cremated remains will be private at a future time. Friends are invited to greet the family and share refreshments in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service. Flowers are welcome, or memorial donations can be made in Morris’ name to Poplar Branch Baptist Church, 709 Poplar Branch Rd, Grandy, NC 27939.

Please share messages of comfort and support with the Jones family at gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services was entrusted with arrangements.
