Michael T. Gallop
Hampton, Virginia- Michael T. Gallop, 60, passed away peacefully Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his home. Michael was born December 26, 1950 in Norfolk, Virginia. He retired as a Container Repairman/General Longshoreman with ILA Local 1248. Michael graduated from Oscar F. Smith High School in 1969 and attended Norfolk State College. He was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, Berkley. Michael was a people person, a car enthusiast, and truly loved his dogs and cats. He was predeceased by his father, Alfred H. Gallop, Jr.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 15 years, Geraldine “Geri” D. Gallop; his mother, Althea W. Gallop; one brother, Edward G. Gallop; two sisters-in-law, Pauline Bonds (Terry) and Wilnette Spraggins; three brothers-in-law, Charles Norman, Joseph Norman (Pokcha), and Kendall Norman (Gayle), and a host of beloved aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and Church family members who loved him dearly. Mike, you will forever be in our hearts.
The family will receive family and friends at First Baptist Church, Berkley in Norfolk, Virginia, Wednesday, July 27 from 6 to 8pm. A service celebrating Mike’s life will be held Thursday, July 28, 2011 at First Baptist Church, Berkley at 10 O’clock AM. Friends may view one hour prior. The Reverend Dr. William D. Tyree III will officiate. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Garden, Hampton, Virginia. Condolences may be expressed at www. gallopfuneralservices.com.
