Michael Hunter Spivey

Martins Point-  Michael Hunter Spivey died at home November 24, 2015 after bravely battling cancer. He was 61.

Michael was born in Edenton, NC and raised in Berryville, VA.  He was the son of the late Hanford and Jean Spivey. After completing his education, Michael was employed for 20 years with Lord Fairfax Community College in Middletown, VA in project management. It was there he met his future wife, Amber.  Michael and Amber relocated to Martins Point in 2010 to enjoy the Outer Banks lifestyle.

Michael’s survivors include his wife Amber of the residence; his daughter Autumn Davis of Stephens City, VA; his step-daughter, Holly Horst of Baltimore, MD; his brother, Chris Spivey (Susan) of Camp Hill, PA, his sister Angela McKeown (Jim) of Sterling, VA and four grandchildren.

In accordance with Michael’s wishes, there will be no memorial services.  He greatly respected the work of the Outer Banks Community Foundation and the Beach Food Pantry and the family suggests that in lieu of flowers,  please donate in Michael’s memory.
