Michael Anthony Mason

Michael Anthony Mason, 61, passed away peacefully in his home located in Kill Devil Hills, on Tuesday, June 26, 2012, after a lengthy illness. Known by many in the area as “Fisherman Mike” in recognition of his passion for and love of fishing, Michael was well known and loved by many people from all walks of life.

Left to mourn his passing are: his mother, Mary Mason Raymond, Media, PA; wife, Luann Mason, children George (Anna) of Lake Tahoe, California, Alexandra of Kill Devil Hills, Bernadette of Duluth, Minnesota, grandson Michael M. Sykes, Jr. of Kill Devil Hills, and sons by marriage, Robert Laitinen, William Alvarado and Eric Alvarado, all of Kill Devil Hills, NC.

Siblings: Rose Ann Branch-Felts (William), Suffolk, VA; Velda A. Gullap, Chesapeake, VA; Patricia Joseph, Twin Oaks, PA; Arlene Waters (Hilton), Chester, PA; Terrence L. Mason, Sr., Korea; Fred Mason (Christina), Patricia J. Anderson (Carl) and Kathy D. Raymond, Media, PA. Aunts: Martha (W. James, Sr.) Burton, Media, PA; Doris Pope, Philadelphia, PA; and Theresa (David M., Sr.) Avans, Virginia Beach, VA; special friend Shirlee Timmons, NC, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and friends.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2012, at the Colington United Methodist Church in Colington, at 1:00PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Dare County Health and Hospice in Manteo, NC or the American Cancer Society are suggested.
