Melissa Marie Duncan

May 27, 2026

Melissa Marie Duncan, 65, was called to her eternal home May 27, 2026 at the family’s Jarvisburg residence after bravely battling chronic illness. Her every need was attended to by her devoted husband of 19 years, Kenneth Lee Duncan of the home.

Melissa was predeceased by her parents, Bernard and Sylvia Ransone and her eldest sibling, Marlene Evans.  In addition to Kenneth,  also surviving are Melissa’s three children Jennifer Dixon; James “Jamie” Midgett, and Justin Midgett- all of Grandy; her two step-daughters, Nicole of Texas and Heather of Spring Hope, North Carolina; her siblings, David of New Mexico, Naomi of Auburn, CA, Pattie of Hampton, VA, and Shirley also of Virginia Beach; her brother-in-law Edward Jack Duncan, Jr. of the home as well as numerous other relatives, neighbors, friends, and her regular customers.

Melissa was a loyal and popular employee with the Tobacco Barn store for many years as well as a bakery associate with Food Lion of Grandy. Kenneth is honoring Melissa’s preference for the simplicity of cremation with no memorial services planned.
