Mary Lou Buchan
Mary Lou Buchan, 69, died on Oct 20, 2021 in Nags Head. She was born in Rocky Mount, to parents John and Azile Buchan. Mary Lou was a lover of the arts while in school at Rocky Mount Senior High. Life would later carry her into raising a family of two boys that she would do anything for. Her true passion was the beach, any beach! Same goes for dancing, playing pool, and just having a good time in general. Her strength was contagious and nothing in this world could hold her back. Now, she is free as her spirit has always been.
Mary Lou Buchan was known by many and loved by all. She was a free-flowing free spirit. She did everything in her ability to provide for her boys and provided every opportunity to for them to excel. Mary Lou loved her classic rock music and the time spent with friends.
Summertime was the busiest time for her. Mary Lou Buchan constantly worried about how she was going to get Derek and Jeff to their baseball games that were at two different locations at the same time. While she would be productive at her multiple jobs, she would master mind a way to drop them off, watch them play, and feed them both before the starvation settled in. Win or lose, she was their biggest fan.
Mary Lou would give her opinion without flinching or apology, but she never dismissed you for your choice and always welcomed you home whether you were successful or unsuccessful. She may slide a little ‘I told you so’ into the conversation but it was met with a smiling face and a big hug. Mary Lou Buchan is survived by her sons Derek Boseman and Jeff Boseman and two grandchildren.
A celebration of her life will be planned for a later time at Pine View Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy and comfort are welcome via the online register at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc., was entrusted with arrangements.

Keeping all the family and friends in my thoughts and prayers.
Mary Lou and I became friends when we both worked at Hardee’s. We both had young children and we helped each other! She was a strong person and loved her boys! I moved to Raleigh and we lost touch with each other. I am sure we will see each other again.
Mary Lou was my first girl friend. I met her in Ms. Webb's fourth grade at James Craig Braswell Elementary School. I remember her sweet smile and twinkling eyes. May she rest in peace.
Our dad’s were Rocky Mount Fireman and we played together at the Christmas parties…later we worked together at the Winn Dixie while I was in high school. She was always smiling and so nice to be around. Praying for all the family.
I’m so sorry to learn the passing of Mary Lou. We all were friends back in the 1970’s and all hung out together. She was such a free spirit and loved everyone. She will be missed by many. My thoughts and prayers are with her family.
Mary Lou was one of my best friends and we considered each other sisters of the heart. I admired her ability to stay positive even though she had so much to contend with physically. She loved life and especially her boys and grandkids. I miss her and hope she's gotten all the answers to the questions she had. Much love on your soul journey.
