  1. I’m so sorry to read of Mark’s passing. My sincere condolences to the family. May God give you peace during this difficult time.

  2. I agree. Mark had the sharpest wit, and always knew things the rest of us kids were clueless about. No doubt he was smart. My condolences go out to his dad and all his sisters. Rest in peace, brother.

  3. So sorry to hear !!! Much love and God’s peace to Debbie/Reese . . . Theresa / Gerry and the rest of the Williams family

  4. As mentioned in brother Mark’s obituary that music was a big part of his life. I am reminded of an old Easter Brothers song that the chorus states “ They’re holding up the ladder that I’m climbing on I’m climbing up the ladder and I’m going home. At the top of the ladder, oh, what joy there shall be, As the angels are holding up the ladder for me.” My prayers to all the Williams family and the magnificent joy we all will find at the top of that ladder the angels are holding.

  5. So very sorry to hear of Mark’s passing. May memories of him help keep his spirit alive, and may his family and friends find comfort knowing that he is in a better place.

  6. Unk Mark is one of the smartest men I’ve ever known. He also knew how to keep a whole room entertained by just telling a story (even if you couldn’t believe half of it hahaha) He will be missed dearly.

  7. Steve and I unfortunately never met Mark. It is clear we missed out. He was a man of many talents, with music in his heart – and a wide net of friends and family. Our condolences to all of you. He will clearly be missed. ♥️

Mark S. Williams

February 26, 2024

Mark S. Williams “The Count” of Spot Road, North Carolina died unexpectedly on February 26, 2024 from natural causes. Mark was only 66 years old. The family is deeply saddened and shocked by the sudden loss.

Mark was born on May 31, 1957 in Bluefield, West Virginia, and graduated from Giles High in Pearisburg, Virginia and then attended new River Valley community college in Dublin, Virginia. He moved on to Houston Texas where he worked as an industrial electrician and later back to Virginia. Mark could pick up pretty much anything he put his mind to. He always tracked music, being the first to ‘discover’ new artists and revive old ones. He could come up with an appropriate lyric at any moment.

He loved his nephews and nieces and got to spend his last best years surrounded by all of them; Angie, Jennifer, Sheffey, Katie, Cammy, Christopher, Heather, Matt, Julie, Oaka and Cora. He also had a multitude of great nieces and nephews that will miss him dearly.

Mark was preceded in death by his mother, Buretta “Wuzzy” Johnson-Williams; and his youngest brother, Butch Williams. He is survived by his father, Jack C Williams (Hazel) of Blacksburg, Virginia; sister, Debbi (Reese) Evans of Spot, NC; sister Jacki (Mike) Mitchell of Blacksburg, VA; sister, Theresa (Gerry) Scarborough of Point Harbor, NC; and sister, Cindy (Kenny) McGuire of White Gate, VA.

Memorial service will be Friday, March 1, 2024 at 1 PM at the home of Debbi and Reese Evans. An additional service will be planned for later in his beloved Giles County, Virginia.

We all think that Mark’s final words might be a quote from the John Prine song, “Hello in there.”

Please share an expression of grace with the family at www.gallopfuneralservices.com. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with arrangements.
