Marie Dennett Hughes

Marie Dennett Hughes died in Avon on Monday September 24, 2007.  She was 91.  Marie Hughes was born January 29, 1916 in New York City.  She was the daughter of the late George and Mae Dennett and the wife of the late Thomas Aloysius Hughes.

Marie was married and raised her family in Mount Kisco, NY.  She also served the public for many years at the Mount Kisco Public Library. Marie and Tom spent their retirement years in Morehead City, NC and moved to Avon NC in 2001.  As a resident of Avon, Marie spent many happy times with her wonderful caregiver, Debbie Scalia, especially on the long drives they took together.

Marie was pre-deceased by her brother, George Dennett and her sister, Doris Brooks.  Left to cherish the memory of Marie Dennett Hughes is her sister, Jean McCabe of Katonah, NY; her sons Thomas Hughes of Newport, NC and John Hughes of Crestview, FL; her daughters Margaret Hughes of Avon, NC and Mary Dzamba of Wells, ME as well as nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

The funeral Mass was held at Our Lady of the Seas Catholic Church in Buxton, NC on Thursday, September 27th at 2 pm.
