Marguerite Helen Alford

January 23, 2025

Marguerite “Helen” Alford, born on April 30, 1930, in Ottawa, Canada, passed away peacefully on January 23, 2025, in Southern Shores, North Carolina. She was the cherished daughter of the late Ernest and Marguerite Towsley.

Helen was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who held her family close to her heart. She is survived by her daughters Cindy Stone (Jim) and Audra Alford O’Hara (Rodger). Her legacy continues through her beloved grandchildren: Samantha Hemphill (Frank), Caleb Byrum (Sydney Berlin), Matthew O’Hara, and Kyle O’Hara, as well as her great-grandchildren Kinsley, Hayden, Jackson, Willow, and Cannon.

Helen was preceded in death by her husbands, William George Alford and Cecil Jackson Hassall.

A gifted artist, Helen’s paintings graced the homes of family and friends, serving as a testament to her incredible talent and creativity. Her vibrant personality and warmth fostered enduring friendships throughout her life—she truly never met a stranger. Despite facing many losses and challenges, Helen’s unwavering faith in the Lord remained a source of strength and inspiration.

Helen’s zest for life and boundless spirit will be deeply missed but will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort to all who were touched by her remarkable presence.
