Margaret Ann McCombs

Kill Devil Hills- Margaret “Margie” Ann McCombs, 77, passed away on February 26th at her home in Kill Devil Hills, NC where her husband Jack with the support and daily help of Dare County Hospice had established a home hospice. Margie was born on June 5th, 1939 in West Chester, PA and grew up in Downingtown. She was the daughter of the late Andy and Rose Eppolito, and the proud mother of Christopher W. Albrecht (Jennifer) of Brockport, NY, and loving grandmother of Autumn, Cory, and Aaron.  She was the devoted step-mother of Natalie Guarnery (Jon) and step-grandsons Jack and Patrick of Plainfield, IN; step-daughter Rae Clark (Eric) of Soldotna, AK; sister of Joanne Welsh (Bruce) of Downingtown, PA; and the sister of Patricia Clarke and brother Joseph Eppolito (Linda) both who predeceased her.  For many years, she lived in the Rochester, NY area where she made life-long friends.  For over 30 years she was a chairside assistant in general, orthodontic, and periodontal dentistry.

Margie was a skilled seamstress, needlepoint artist, and she loved working in her yard.  She was also a self-taught home designer and drew up the plans that resulted in the major remodeling of her Kill Devil Hills home to include tripling the size of her kitchen with a vaulted ceiling, doubling the size of a bedroom and adjacent bathroom, and installation of both screened-in and open decks.

A funeral mass will be held at Holy Redeemer by the Sea with reception following in the social hall at the church- Friday, March 3, 2017 at 12PM.  A graveside service will be held at Hopewell Methodist Church Cemetery in Downingtown, PA on June 10th followed by a reception at the home of Joanne and Bruce of Downingtown, PA immediately following the graveside service.

A reception in Margie’s memory will be held at the home of Christopher and Jennifer in Brockport, NY on June 17th.

In lieu of flowers, Margie’s husband, Jack, suggests memorial donations be made to Dare County Hospice at PO Box 669, Manteo, NC 27954; or to the Hands of Hope and Cancer Services of the Outer Banks Hospital at 4800 S. Croatan Highway, Nags Head, NC 27959.
