Lura Beverly Vineyard
Lura Beverly Vineyard, long time resident of Duck, North Carolina, died Friday March 28, 2008 Chesapeake, Virginia. She was 83. Lura Vineyard was born July 26, 1924. She was the daughter of the late John and Freda Johnson of Sissonville, West Virginia, and the wife of the late Alfred J. Vineyard. Also preceding her in death was Lura’s only sibling, Carolyn Smith of Radford, Virginia.
Lura resided in Duck for the last 26 years to fulfill her dream of living at the beach. For several years, Lura was a trusted employee with Britt Real Estate. There, she developed a reputation for being an excellent cottage inspector. While on the Outer Banks, Lura indulged in long walks on the beach and surrounded herself with the people she loved.
Left to cherish the memory of Lura Vineyard is her daughter, Beverly V. Cline, her son, John D. Vineyard and her grandson Christopher E. Cline, all of Duck, her nieces, Leslie Pennington and laura Smith, as well as her dearest friends.
The family will hold a graveside memorial service in South Charleston, West Virginia at Sunset Memorial Park at 2 O’clock in the afternoon Monday April 7, 2008. The Reverend Claire Butler of First Presbyterian Church, Charleston will officiate. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with local arrangements.
