Linda Walker Wooten

Manteo- Linda Walker Wooten (aka “Mrs. Woo”), 79, of Raleigh and Manteo died at home with family on January 1, 2017. She was born on April 28, 1937 in Charlotte, NC. Linda was the daughter of the late Robert Jefferson Walker III and Margaret Smith Tripp.

After graduating from the Watts School of Nursing, Linda worked as an ER nurse before becoming a stay-at-home mother to her three children. A dedicated volunteer, she worked for more than 30 years as a docent at the NC Governor’s Mansion, the Elizabeth II, and the NC Aquarium on Roanoke Island.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Dr. Frank Thomas Wooten III of Manteo and Raleigh; her brother Robert Jefferson Walker IV, son Robert and daughter Jennifer of Charleston, SC; brother Fritz Cary Wisecup his wife Julia, and daughter Mary of Wilmington, NC; her daughter Laurin Wooten Walker and her husband Matt of Kill Devil Hills; her son Patrick Thomas Wooten of Raleigh; daughter Ashley Tripp Wooten of Raleigh; two nephews and two grandchildren, McCrae and Eva.

The family’s plans are for a waterfront service in Manteo, pending at this time. In lieu of flowers the family has requested that donations be made in Linda’s name to the NC Aquarium Society.
