Lewis W. Gregory

Kill Devil Hills – Lewis W. Gregory, 73, of Kill Devil Hills passed away at his home on Oct 15, 2018 surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Richmond, VA to Robert Maxey and Ella Thomas Gregory, both deceased.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Judy; his sons, Shawn L. Gregory and wife Cynthia of Mechanicsville, VA, and Richard S. Gregory and wife, Svetlana, of Kitty Hawk, NC; and six grandchildren, Shane, Alec, Daniel, Alisa, Jarrod, and Bret. He is also survived by his brother, Robert H. Gregory and wife Bernice of Hopewell, VA; his sister Gwen Gregory Vincent and husband, Roger, of Varina, VA; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
Lew graduated from Hopewell High School and Richard Bland College and served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired in 1997 after spending 25 years in the fire service with Henrico County where he attained the rank of Captain.
After retirement, Lew enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing while living at Cobbs Creek, VA, playing pickleball and golf while living in The Villages, FL, and just living at the beach after moving to the Outer Banks. He also greatly enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. Singing with church choirs and special music groups was always a must wherever he lived. He was a member of Duck United Methodist Church where he sang in the choir, a former member of the Outer Banks Chorus, and he sang in the Outer Banks Presbyterian church’s special music programs. His beautiful solo voice will be missed by many.
A celebration of life will be held 3pm, October 28, 2018 at Duck United Methodist Church. Friends are invited to visit the family from 3-5pm, October 27, 2018 at Russo’s Bistro in Kitty Hawk.
