Leonard Gallahan Gibbs
Nags Head- On Saturday June 14, 2008 Leonard Gallahan Gibbs died at the family residence after a long illness. Leonard was born in Richmond Virginia January 1, 1927. He was the son of the late William Clifton Gibbs and Zulasue Haze Carlisle Gibbs of Richmond.
Leonard served his county honorably in the United States Army. After his military service, Leonard built a successful career as a machinist. Eventually he met and married Marion Dicken who would be his devoted wife for nearly 60 years. After raising their family, Leonard and Marion retired together to enjoy the beauty of the Outer banks, where they resided in Kill Devil Hills and Nags Head for several years.
Left to cherish the memory of Leonard Gibbs is his devoted wife Marion D. Gibbs of the Nags Head Residence; his son L. G. “Casey” Gibbs, Jr. and daughter- in-law Fran of Richmond; his sister Audrey Strohecker also of Richmond, and many extended family members and dear friends.
Plans for a graveside funeral to be held at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Richmond, Virginia are pending. The Woody Funeral Home at 1771 N. Parham Road in Richmond is in charge. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial tributes in Leonard’s honor be forwarded to Nags Head Fire Department. Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. was entrusted with local arrangements.
