Lee Stone Crumpler
Kitty Hawk- Lee Stone Crumpler, 44, died tragically Tuesday July 24 near his home in Kitty Hawk. Lee was born in Portsmouth Virginia and raised in Chesapeake. He attended Western Branch High School and went on to serve his country honorably in the United States Air Force. He was stationed at Langley Air Force Base.
Following his military service, Lee was employed as a cook and worked at several restaurants including Mulligan’s, Thumpers, and Levels of Elizabeth City. For the past several years, Lee was a valued employee of Capt’n Franks Restaurant in Kitty Hawk. In his spare time, Lee pursued a lifelong love of music playing acoustical guitar in several Outer Banks venues including the Brewing Station and Capt’n Franks.
Surviving Lee Crumpler are his parents, Bonnie S. Conery of Elizabeth City and Dawson L. Drew and step mom Nancy of Wisconsin; his maternal grandparents Norine Stone and Arnold Stone of Elizabeth City; his Capt’n Franks family; numerous band-mates, co-workers, and cherished friends.
A celebration of Lee’s life will be held Sunday July 29, 2012 at 3 PM at the Gallop Funeral Services Chapel in Nags Head. Reverend Bernard Jernigan will officiate. A private scattering ceremony will be held at a future date. Memorial donations to the Stone Family Crumpler Memorial Fund would be gratefully received c/o Gallop Funeral Services 6917 S.
