Kay Diane Reed

Powells Point- Kay Diane Reed, age 79, of Powells Point, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

Kay was born June 28, 1939, in Ashland, Ohio, to Bill and Ione Williams. She was the oldest of 3 siblings. She is survived by a sister, Lynn Jones of Kill Devil Hills, North Carolina, and a brother, Stephen P. Williams of Perrysburg, Ohio.

Kay is also survived by her husband of 58 years, Stanley B. Reed, a daughter, Michele D. Reed, and a grandson, Josh Reed all of Powells Point, North Carolina

Kay graduated Ashland High School in 1958 and went on to attend and graduate from Bowling Green State University majoring in English.

She worked as a reporter and columnist for the Ashland Times Gazette in Ashland, Ohio until she retired in 2000 where she then relocated to North Carolina for warmer weather and walks on the beach. Kay then worked as a tutor for Griggs Elementary school in Grandy, North Carolina where she was loved and respected by teachers and students alike.

Kay will always be remembered for her far too generous heart and undying devotion to her family, intense love of animals, love of playing games, and, of course, her obsession with baseball!

Kays wishes were to be cremated. The family will be hosting a small private service in their home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Gallop Funeral Services, Inc. to help the family with expenses.
