Kathleen Hale Parker
Kathleen Hale Parker, a lifetime resident of Currituck County, died quiet and peacefully early Monday morning October 15, 2018. For the last four years, she had called the memory care unit of Currituck House in Moyock, NC home. Up until that point she had called the family farm on North Spot Road her home since her birth in 1925 to the late C.H. Parker and Edith Gallop.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Floyd Parker, nephew Gary Wayne Parker and nephew by marriage Kevin Clark Sr.
She leaves behind her family consisting of sister-in-law, JoAnn Parker Gallop, niece Iris Parker, great nephew Kevin “Buddy” Clark, Jr., wife Ginny and their son Drew of Lovingston, Va as well as great nephew Wayne Thomas Clark, wife Taylor and son Thomas of Powells Point, NC.
Many will remember her as the blueberry lady on Spot Road. She was an avid reader, animal lover and expert crossword solver. She was the devoted caretaker for her Mother, Miss Edie, after a car accident had left her an invalid for the last 25 years of her life. Kathleen set a standard of care for the family and community that may never be matched. She asked only to enjoy her quiet walks around the field with her old dog in return.
Her family would like to thank the staff of Currituck House and Albemarle Hospice for the care and attention they shared with her during these final times of her life. They saw her as the quiet, humble and entertaining character that was Kathleen.
“Aunt Kath” had a few things in life that she really enjoyed — her family, fried chicken, chili dogs, Pepsi colas and candy bars. All of these will be present at a very informal memorial service on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 3 p.m. at 249 N. Spot Road, Powells Point, NC.
