Karen Piccola Power

Duck – Karen Piccola Power was a loving mother, nana, sister, and friend.Β  She died peacefully in her sleep at her home on the morning of March 24, 2023 at the age of 72.

She was the daughter of the late Bertam and Barbara Bose.Β  She was born on July 11, 1950 in Corpus Christie, TX.Β  After graduating from high school, she attended the University of Maryland at Frostberg and received her degree in education.Β  It was during her first teaching job that she met and married F. Scott Piccola. Together, they had two children, Khara and Rocky.

Karen left her teaching career, moved to Virginia and began her career in the commercial flooring industry.Β  She married the late Thomas M. Power in 1992 and they remained married for the next 16 years.Β  Karen is survived by her two children, Khara Meer, husband Kevin of Virginia Beach, and Scott β€œRocky” Piccola of Virginia Beach; her brother, Fred Bose of Glen Burnie, MD; and nephews, Sam Bose and Kevin Bose of Maryland. She is also survived by her 5 grandchildren, Kallee, Jaxon, Ryan, Ella and Emma and her beloved dog, Pipa. Karen was predeceased by her husband in 2009.

Karen was most loved for leaving a trail of glitter and happiness wherever she went.Β  She had a passion for creating, especially painting.Β  Her greatest adventure was becoming a nana to her grandchildren.Β  She was also known for infectious smile and love of mermaids.

The family will be celebrating the life of Karen Power on Saturday, April 15, 2023 at 2 pm at her home, 104 Duck Ridge Village Ct, Duck, North Carolina.Β  All are welcome to join us.
