  1. I had the pleasure of working with and getting to know Karen at the OBH Lab. We remained fond friends after. She was one of the most classy, intelligent, and graceful women I have ever met. She also had an admirable and immense inner strength and poise. She a kind friend and I always looked up to her. There were times when we would not see each other for a while, but we were always able to pick back up where we left off. We would walk together and catch up and talk about our lives. I will never forget the encouraging words she said to me. I will miss her terribly. I am honored to have called her my friend. Her light will never be forgotten.

  2. Emily, I did not know your mother well; had only recently met here when I learned of her battle with cancer and reached out to help. She lived in my neighborhood and I was taking her food and groceries. My heart breaks for you and your family. I wish I had had the time to know her better. Take solice in knowing she is no longer suffering and is now with God. My prayers are with you all.💜

  3. My heart is broken that someone like Karen was taken so young. She was so full of life and laughter. She was so intelligent and enterprising! She gave me the example of living life to the fullest! My deepest sympathy to her family and friends.

  4. I had the privilege to work with Karen for a brief period in during my time at The Outer Banks Hospital. I was a student of laboratory technology and while I completed my internship she was always there to guide me through.
She was an amazing lady and I truly did admire her. Thank you Karen, for all that you have done for myself and so many others. Until we meet again.

  5. Godspeed Karen. You are a true warrior and stayed the course with a positive outlook. I very much admired that about you. May peace be with you and your family.

  6. She was one of the good ones..I was fortunate enough to have worked with her for a few years. Gone too soon. RIP Karen.

  7. My heart is saddened. Karen was intelligent, kind, courageous and had an amazing sense of humor. When I think of Karen, I remember her smile and laughter. She always brightened my day. I am fortunate and honored to have worked alongside her and to say that she was my friend. Karen was an exceptional Medical Technologist and loved what she did. She took great pride in her work. I loved working with her and always admired her. Karen, you made a difference and you will be forever missed!

  8. Karen was such a delightful child and saw her grow up to be a wonderful young lady.
In later years since she moved to North Carolina we kept in touch with
facebook and phone calls. Her cancer just took away the spunk she always had. I will miss talking to her.
