Judy Melchor Little

Kitty Hawk – Judy Melchor Little, 72, passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2015.

She was born in Norfolk to the late Josephine Lewis Melchor and Lucky Charles Melchor. Left to cherish their Mother’s memory are her devoted children, Whitney Jo Little, and H. “Timmy” Little; their father, H. Tim Little; her companion, Paul Muick; her sister and brother-in-law, Jo Ann and John H. Peterson, Jr.; her nephew, John H. Peterson, III and wife, Stacy; her nephew, Lucky C. Peterson and wife, Elizabeth; grand-nephews, Penn and Gage, and grand-nieces, Greer and Vaughan.

Judy was a graduate of Granby High School in 1960, Longwood College in 1964, and VCU in 1991, with a Masters in Art. She was an exceptional artist and exhibited in the Boardwalk Art Show for many years. Starting out as an associate professor of art at Virginia Union University in Richmond, she progressed to Chairman of the Art Department and curator of the VUU Museum. Her paintings bring joy into homes everywhere.

After many years in Portsmouth and Richmond, Judy retired to the Outer Banks, the love of her and her family’s life. There she continued painting, taking care of her cottage, “Full House,” her friendship of 51 years with her Longwood Ladies, and her love of family and the salt air.

A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 20 at 1:00 p.m. at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, 1264 N. Great Neck Rd. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Outer Banks SPCA, P.O. Box 2477, Manteo, NC 27954; Beach Recovery Foundation for the Outer
