Josephine Francis Warner
Grandy, NC – Josephine “Jo” Francis Warner, 83, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 28th, 2017, after a long and saddening illness.
Jo was born in Schenectady, NY, where she attended Schenectady Public School System, worked and raised her family along with her loving and devoted husband Walter. They moved to North Carolina upon his retirement to enjoy the peaceful serenity of Grandy, along with being by the water. This is where they enjoyed their friends and neighbors along with their Church, where Jo also took great pleasure and enjoyed singing in the choir. Jo was also well known for her love of animals, especially the “strays” of Grandy.
She loved all of her children, grandchildren, and great-children, and it was a joy to watch her with all of the babies. We as a family also loved visiting North Carolina in the summer and looked forward to her special and delicious desserts.
Jo is survived by her daughters Brenda (David) Mantei and Marcey (Charles) Baum. Her son Stephen (Linda) Warner. Son in law James Wierzbicki. 12 grandchildren, Rachel (Jeff) St.Onge, David (Kristy) Mantei, Jennifer Warner (Marc Giaquinto), Adam Mantei,Dominic Wierzbicki (Jenai Southard), James (CarolAnne) Wierzbicki, Laurie Warner, Sara (Nate) Gatta, Jeremy and Stephen Wierzbicki, Charles and Alexis Baum. She is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
Jo was predeceased by her devoted husband Walter, who she married on April 4th, 1953, and her loving daughter Tracey Lynn, who passed just days before our dad. She was also predeceased by her parents Serafina and Carmelo Palmeri, sisters Carm Gentile and Loretta Hulbert, and her brother Frank Palmeri.
There will be no local memorial service, however there will be a family and friends memorial service to be held at Saratoga National Cemetery, Saratoga, NY, on Monday, May 08th, 2017, at 10:30a.m., where Josephine will be laid to rest alongside her “Love Walter”.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Currituck County Animal Shelter, Currituck, N.C. in Jo’s name, or to Sentara Nursing Facility, 3907 Caratoke Hwy., Barco, N.C., 27914, where we as an entire family want to thank the doctors, nurses, and aides for the love and care they gave to “Miss Jo”.
