John “Jack” Franklin Hoffman
Pont Harbor- John “Jack” Franklin Hoffman died unexpectedly in Barco July 31, 2009. He was 79. Jack was born May 1, 1930 in Tyrone, Pennsylvania. He served his country proudly in the United States Army during the Korean War. After his military service, Jack married his soul mate of 48 years, Gail, and together raised their family. Over the years Jack devoted many years of service to several civic organizations. He was a lifetime member of the VFW- Post 8685, a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 4506, and a member of the American Legion Post #0288. In addition, Jack served as a member of the Centreville, VA Moose Lodge #2168 and was a member of the Retired Ironworkers Local No.5 Union for 45 years.
Left to cherish Jack’s memory is his wife Gail Hoffman of the Point Harbor residence; two sons, Jeffrey Hoffman and wife Anne of Fairfax, Virginia, and Mark Hoffman and wife Kerri of Grandy; three grandchildren Sierra Hoffman, Gretchen Hoffman, and Jake Hoffman; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss him.
A celebration of Jack’s life will be held Saturday, August 15th, 11AM, at the Coinjock Veteran’s Park. The family suggests that memorial donations in Jack’s honor be forwarded to Sentara Nursing Center in Barco.
