Nags Head- Jethro M. Payne III, 60, died in Elizabeth City, NC Thursday September 3, 2015.  He was born in Pasquotank County, NC  and was predeceased by his mother Sadie Payne.

Jethro was a lifelong waterman and proudly made his living as a commercial fisherman. In recent years he was a beloved resident at Colony Ridge of Nags Head.  Although he was challenged by many health issues, he never lost his humor and loyalty to his friends and family.

Surviving Jethro is his daughter Bobbie Jo Payne of Currituck; his father Jethro Payne Jr. of Florida; his three sisters,  Willimina Jennette of Manteo, Jennie Culpepper of Kitty Hawk, and Julie Lange also of Florida; three brothers George Payne of Manteo, William Payne of Currituck and Michael Payne of Florida one granddaughter, Makayla Koch of Currituck, z three nephews, three nieces and a host of other relatives and friends.

There are no plans for a memorial service at this time.  The urn will be interred privately in the family cemetery. Jethro’s wishes were for donations in his memory to be made to a worthy charity of your choice.
