Jesse Francis Ambrose

Manns Harbor – Jesse “Sonny” Francis Ambrose, 69 of Manns Harbor, North Carolina went home to be with his Lord and Savior on November 22, 2017 at his residence after a short battle with cancer.

A Dare County Native, he was the son of the late Lawson McCoy Ambrose and the late Mattie Twiddy Ambrose. Sonny was a disabled Vietnam Veteran, serving his country proudly in the United States Marine Corp. Sonny also served as a former Vice Chairman and member of the Dare County Board of Commissioners and on various other boards.

Sonny was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Granddaddy, Brother, and Uncle.
Sonny leaves behind to cherish his memories, his loving wife of 49 years, Carolyn Ambrose of the home, two daughters, Sherrie Ambrose Cahoon and husband Barry, and Crystal Ambrose Maqueda and husband Armando, One son, Michael Ambrose and wife, Paula, four granddaughters, Courtney Cahoon, Caitlin Cahoon, Ann Marie Ambrose, and Marriah Maqueda. Six grandsons, Curtis Cahoon, Brian Perkins, Jesse Ambrose, Brandon Maqueda, Jacob Avery, and Alex Avery. Five great grandchildren, Kayleigh Cahoon, Jeramiah Gibbs, Kemora Mares, Zeke Mares, and Jayliana Gibbs. Sonny is survived by one sister Farris Buie of Goldsboro, North Carolina, A special Uncle Coy Ambrose and wife Jeanette of Manns Harbor, Special Nieces Catrina Perry, Kenya Miranda, Tiffany Huber, Dorothy Walston, Debra Dalton, Dolores Stallings, Sarah Stallings, and special Nephews Tommy Stallings, David Stallings, Steven Stallings, Marshall Stallings, and Allen Stallings, a special cousin, Falana Twiddy, and special friend Ken Payne.  Along with his parents Sonny was preceded in death by his Step Mother, Lucille Ambrose and Grandson, Christopher Cahoon.

A memorial service will be held with military honors at 2 pm Saturday, December 2, 2017 at the Harbor Light Holiness Church 6547 Old Manns Harbor Road, Manns Harbor, NC.  Pastor Anthony Ralph will be officiating. Friends may visit the family one hour prior at church. The family will receive friends at all other times at the home 6655 Old Manns Harbor Road, Manns Harbor.

Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Harbor Light Holiness Church Youth Center.
